For many people, social media is nothing other than a place to show everyone how cool your life is, how many friends you have, how great your Saturday night was and how lucky you are to have such a great best friend.

Any form of Social Media to me is an information machine starring you in the face. Telling you everything you need to know about your business’s audience. 1.13 Billion people log into Facebook every day and that figure increases by 17% year over year, but let’s take a step back for a minute.

Let’s talk about Facebook in Australia. We have almost 25 Million people living in Australia and 15 Million of them are using Facebook. So what does that mean?

It means we have a platform with unlimited resources of information, full of advice and entertainment for every type of person and guess what? It is all free.

So, if you have a Business and do not have a Facebook Business Page setup, that makes absolutely no sense to me.

If you are not utilizing an online community such as Facebook, then you are at a disadvantage to those who are. Studies have shown that people will check a business social media accounts before using that business or service.

Social Media is all about being Social.

Although Not all Social Media Platforms are the same, they all provide you with content and information about your potential and existing audience that never existed before. There are certain things you can and can’t do to reach your audience and also certain things that Facebook will and won’t allow you to do.

Once you really get deep into Social Media you will find that Posting ratios and Posting templates that appeal to your audience’s eyes, as well as the different Social Media Platforms, are very important.

There is definitely not only a Science to it but also an Art.

Here are 3 tips to remember when using any form of Social Media for businesses purposes.

Understand your competition – Researching similar businesses to yours and studying their Social Media, when do they post? How often do they post? What forms of content do they post? What special Tabs do they use on their business page? How have their followers engaged in their posts? Looking at all these questions will help you in setting up your Facebook Business page.

Quality over Quantity – Posting 10 times a day is not only bad in the eyes of Facebook & all Social Media platforms but can lead people to unfollow your Social Media account. Social Media platforms including Facebook filters every user’s news feed using Quality over Quantity. Be sure that your posts are of the highest quality in both information and graphics. Do not post just to add content.

Platform Language – Not all Social Media Accounts are the same nor should the content you post be. Each platform has a Language that the users understand. In some platforms, just an image and a few emoji’s will reach the audience you need and in others that may not be the case.

Social Media users want to know there is someone behind the business account and not just a robot posting relevant information, always remember to be social and engage with your audience.
